Governance Structure

The MPA program at Sun Yat-sen University (SYSU) is guided, supervised, and assessed by the National MPA Education Steering Committee. The Graduate School of SYSU provides decision-making basis, daily guidance and administrative supports for improving the quality of MPA education, academic development, academic atmosphere and scholarship. The School of Government (SOG) provides guidance and support for the program on strategic planning, talent recruitment, faculty management, intra-university communication, budget and infrastructures.
The MPA Education Steering Committee of SOG consists of 9 faculty with diverse educational background, professional background and teaching experience. The committee sets policies, guides, supervises, and assesses the MPA program, playing an important decision-making role regarding admission standards, curriculum development, student evaluation, program evaluation, and so on.
The MPA Advisory Board, comprised of 11 representatives (updated January, 2023) from academy, employers, professionals, alumni, and students, performs its duties in advising while serving as a foundation of diversified communication for the development of the MPA program.
As for the daily management, the MPA program is run by the Center for MPA Program. The Center for MPA Program at SYSU is a standing establishment for the MPA program under the management of the SOG. It has a director and a deputy director, an office manager, and three administrative assistants.
